 why tip-ups in the first place? they solve a problem. they afford the user long range visibility, that is, not haveing to be in close proximity to monitor a bobber or rod tip. A group of anglers could place a &quot;spread&quot; of lines and panfish and mingle. The tradeoff was that you have to land your fish hand over hand.

 what is needed is a tip-up or &quot;strike indicator&quot; that works in conjunction with the users prefered rod and reel.
Insulates the hole cut in the ice in extreame cold.
Has a wide range of release (free spooling) setings to target all inland species of fish.
user friendly. yep, kid friendly too.
